Dr. Weyant has a special interest in chest wall resection and reconstruction. In addition, he treats end-stage lung disease. Over the course of his career, Dr. Weyant has performed chest wall resection, chest wall reconstruction, and lung transplants, among other surgeries, to treat thoracic malignancies.
Extensive Research Background
Throughout his career, Dr. Michael Weyant has performed extensive laboratory research in different areas like esophageal malignancy and lung carcinoma. In fact, this field has interested Dr. Weyant so much that he led a SPORE grant trial. In this trial, researchers looked at and explored small cell lung cancer.
Surgery, Teaching, and Research
Dr. Weyant remains active in teaching and performing thoracic surgeries and working in the laboratory. He continues to present at multiple medical conferences.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Michael Weyant has received multiple excellence-in-teaching awards. He has helped to mentor surgery residents and is praised for his research in detecting lung cancers earlier than ever before.
